Busy Busy

When did I get so busy? The last couple of weeks have just been a whirlwind of activity. I feel like I have not stopped moving. It seems like it's this way every summer. Though you wouldn't know it is summer from the weather we've been having. I was so glad to finally have some sunny days this week because I was NOT enjoying the rain.

Frank has not enjoyed it either, as you can tell from this picture. This is how he came home from church a couple of weeks ago. If you can't tell, his suit is COMPLETELY drenched. Our church is only a block away, so he usually walks home after counting the tithing after church, but it was a downpour and I couldn't go pick him up because Kyson was napping. It was good motivation to get his suit cleaned, though. Then of course the next Sunday Kyson puked all over the clean suit.
So what has been keeping us so busy? I don't know exactly, but it seems like there is always something. A couple of weekends ago Kyson and I were in the Pony Express Days parade. He did great and we had fun waving at all our friends and neighbors along the route. Frank was able to come and see us off at the beginning of the parade, then he had to get back to work.

Later that night we went to the "Tribute to our Troops" concert at the Silverlake Amphitheater. Some friends watched Kyson for us and we had so much fun. The concert was Josh Gracin (loved him!) and Darryl Worley (did not love him, we left after a couple songs). Our good friends Kelly and Tim came with us and it was so fun to hang out with them! Here we are relaxing on the grass waiting for the concert to start.

They had some nice tributes to soldiers who have been killed in Iraq and to families who have husbands or fathers deployed. They also had some skydivers and an air force flyover. All in all we had a great time!
Last week we celebrated our 4th anniversary by dropping Kyson off for his first sleepover and my first night away from him! He stayed with my brother and sister in law and Kyson and I both did much better than I expected. We went out for a nice dinner, then stayed at the Anniversary Inn. It was our first time there and we really enjoyed the extras-the cheesecake and sparkling cider in the room and the breakfast delivered right to our door! The next morning we played a round of mini golf, then went out to lunch before we picked Kyson up. I was so excited to see him, but he barely noticed that we were back. He just squirmed to get away from me so he could play some more.

Kyson is getting so big and gets into EVERYTHING. One of his new hobbies is unrolling the toilet paper. He is a quick little guy. He always manages to get at least half the roll on the floor while I'm getting ready in the morning.

He loves feeling so big and cruising along the furniture and walls. He loves the dishwasher and the fridge and every time I open one of them I hear him drop to the floor from wherever he is standing and speed crawl toward me until I shut it, after which he throws a little tantrum because he didn't get to play inside. He also loves doors and will crawl in his room and shut the door and then sit in front of it so I have to hit him with the door in order to open it to get him out. So I guess he is keeping me pretty busy too.

Last but not least, my church callings are keeping me plenty busy. I have been over the ward program for about a year and a half, then got a second calling as activity days leader a couple of months ago. Then a few weeks ago I was called to be the Beehive instructor in Young Womens. They released me from the doing the program, but I've still been doing it while they found a replacement. This week I am finally relieved of that calling, but the other two are enough to keep me on my toes. I'll be teaching beehives 2-3 times a month and planning and carrying out 2 activities a month for Activity Days. The good news is that I think I will love them both!

So there are my excuses for going so long between posts. I'm trying to stay updated but we'll see how it goes with a few trips out of town in the next couple months.

It is good to hear an update. You are definitely keeping busy. Kyson is adorable and it sounds like he is so much fun. I wish I could see you guys. Let us know if any of your trips include coming to Oregon!
