That's what they say, right? Yes, I realize I took a long leave of absence from blogging. It turns out that the last month of our summer was pretty busy. So busy, in fact, that I had so much to blog that it was overwhelming and so I put it off until it became really impossible to catch up. And then this week I decided I would just forget about catching up and just mention a few highlights.
We are doing fabulous and every day adjusting a little more to life with a toddler. Kyson is still the center of our home and a joy for sure, though these days he sure knows how to cause more trouble than he used to. But, he also knows how to melt our hearts with big hugs and big grins. He has learned about 15 words, but his favorite is probably "quack". I think he thinks he is a duck and that every animal he sees is also a duck. Lately the noise I wake up to in the morning is my little duckling in the other room quacking away. He has taken to climbing on anything he can reach and screeching til our ears hurt when he can't quite climb on something he wants to.
I took this the first day he managed to climb on the dishwasher. He was sure proud of himself.

Trick or treating-he has to be the cutest little giraffe you've ever seen!
The only full body shot we could get (the kid does not hold still!!)At our ward's trunk or treat. He is a big snuggler and we love it!

Raiding the candy bowl

The following pictures are a little older, but I wanted to include a couple from the summer. Between the end of July and end of August, Kyson learned to walk, got 4 staples in his head, and turned one, in that order. Just a few things that kept us busy this summer!

Playing at the splash pad on his birthday

This was taken after we got home from the doctor on the day he split his head open. He had been walking for a couple of weeks and we were trying to decide what to get him for his birthday, so we took him to look at toys. We let him walk up the aisle so he could see the toys close up and he tripped and the top of his head went right into the corner of a shelf. I knew immediately that he would need stitches or something so we took him right in and came out an hour later with 4 shiny staples. That was fun. I was just grateful to have Frank with me so I didn't have to do it alone. His scar is still pretty visible, but luckily he has lots of hair so it stays hidden.
