Oh Baby!

Hudson Logan Taylor arrived on Friday, June 11th at 2:12 p.m! He weighed in at 8 lbs 6 oz and measured 19 inches long. He is a sweet baby boy and we are so happy to have him in our home! He must have been pretty comfortable in his home in my belly because he was a week past his due date when we decided to go through with an induction. I had really been hoping to avoid an induction and kept thinking for sure labor would start on its own, but it wasn't to be. After dealing with the kidney stone and then a nasty cold and sinus infection in the two weeks before he was born, I decided to be induced while I felt good before something else hit me! I had been hoping and praying throughout this pregnancy that I could have a natural (epidural free) delivery with this baby and I was sure being induced would ruin my plans, but everything turned out perfectly and better than I could have expected. We were called in to the hospital on Friday morning and they started me on pitocin at about 9:30 am. The first few hours were pretty mellow. We walked the halls a little and the contractions started to pick up around 12:30. My midwife came to stay with us around then and she was awesome! Part of why I agreed to be induced was that my favorite midwife was on call that day and I'm so glad she was. She helped me so much and stayed with us through the last couple of hours of labor. It was painful, but with support from my awesome husband and midwife, I was able to have Hudson without any pain medicine! I spent some time sitting on the birth ball and having Frank and my midwife massage my back. Labor progressed pretty fast and my water broke just before 2:00 pm. I was pushing at 2:00 and after just 12 minutes, Hudson was born! It was such an amazing experience and my recovery has been great. Of course I am tired with a new baby around, but I am so happy with how everything went and in all I feel great. Kyson loves his little brother and has been very sweet with him so far. We are all adjusting to being a family of four and feel so blessed and happy that this new addition is finally here! Below are some pictures from the hospital and the first few days home, in no particular order.

P.S. For those who are not easily grossed out, Frank insisted on adding a picture of my kidney stone in the post below. If you are really brave and enlarge it, you can see how jagged it is. Ouch!

He is absolutely PERFECT! He doesn't even look like a newborn with his perfect head and chubby cheeks. LOVE him! Kyson does look so much older...must be time to be a big brother. I am so glad this experience was such a good one. Way to go Wonder Woman! And by the way, I'm pretty sure the kidney stone would have hurt more than the baby, so sorry! At least you get an adorable baby after birth!
