Showers, Parenting Practice, and some progress on the Baby Room!!

Random title, I know. I feel like we have been sooooo busy, but I can't remember what we've been doing. We'll just blame that on the pregnancy, like most things these days.

Frank has been working hard on the baby's room. It has turned into a pretty big project, made more difficult by his wife's indecisive nature. Frank spent several days measuring, cutting, priming, then putting up the beadboard. Then we both spent several days trying to pick out paint for it. As it usually goes, we finally got sick of trying to decide, so we settled on a color and bought the paint. (Side note, we saw a guy from our old ward at home depot and as we were walking away Frank told him we were painting the baby room and he said in surprise "you're having a baby?" I turned around with a look of amazement and my obviously huge belly and he said he couldn't tell from the back! I've been pretending that I've only gained weight in the belly (SOOO not true), but it made my day to hear it from someone else!!!) Anyway, back to the baby room. Frank painted one wall worth of bead board and then had to wait while I looked at it for a week and debated about changing the color. After going back and forth and changing my mind a few times, I decided to just keep it as it is, so Frank was finally able to start painting again today! Decorating is not my strong point, and neither is decision making, so its a good thing I have such a patient husband! Here's a pic of the somewhat completed wall.

I have had a couple of baby showers the past few weeks, with a final one this coming Saturday. A friend in my ward threw a neighborhood shower for me a few weeks ago, but of course I forgot my camera, so there are no pictures to document that one, but it was so much fun! I love the women in my ward and neighborhood, we feel so blessed to live here! A couple weeks later, my friends Kelly and Lindsey threw me a shower in Salt Lake. It was great and everyone gave us such cute stuff for the baby, but the best part was seeing so many great friends that I haven't seen for awhile. Several of my roommates from college were there as well as some good friends from high school and it was so fun! I was so proud of myself for remembering to take my camera, then I left in the car when Frank dropped me off at the shower! So, Kelly was nice enough to send me a couple of pictures that were taken with her camera, though a few people snuck out before we got any pictures. Thanks Kelly and Lindsey for planning such a fun shower!!
Speaking of things I forgot to take pictures of...Frank and I had a little parenting practice this week as we watched my sister's kids for a few days. My mom and my sister flew to Washington for my cousin's wedding, so I volunteered to take Kyli (6) and Kayden(3) for a few days. It was a nice break from work, but not relaxing in any way. We had fun, but those two wore me out! We did some bowling, made a much requested trip to McDonalds, had a movie night, and played games. I even got to practice getting up in the night to take care of a crying child! I have a feeling being a mom is going to be harder than I think...

Annie, So sorry I didn't make it to your shower. We had a crazy Saturday with family and by the time I got home it was way too late! I'm so sorry! I hope everything went well. I'll have to come see you and the baby and bring you my gift. Keep me posted on how everything goes when he comes and then we can come see you!

So for some reason your blog background has gone crazy and it just says "photo bucket image has been moved or deleted" all over, even on top of your pictures and text. Is this just my computer or have other poeple mentioned it too?? It was an adventure finding the button to click to leave you this comment, but I still read your post from Google Reader. I am glad you got the pictures from your shower. I agree that it was waaay fun to see everyone!! And PS-you look DARLING pregnant! :)
